Listened to a bit of constructive criticism; and decided to try this piece with a dark bg, so that the characters pop more; also changed how the hues worked together a bit. Don't know if this is better or worse?

This is good, but know what? The other one was better because the bg had a bit of texture to it. Maybe somewhere down the middle. Also, Bretto's eyes are yellow, but the metal is shining off green, kinda confusing. The only other thing that kinda bugs me is Garrison's cheeks, the shadowing there is kinda deeper than it should be. Try a bigger air brush, then erase the excess with the airbrush eraser (I assume you used photoshop). Other than that, your coloring kick's ass.

mmm bretto's eye colour was an oversight (there's a hue altering layer over him which tainted the green); but i know what you mean about the bg; maybe try altering it again at some point. and maybe the cheeks

I havent seen the other one but i clearly see that you have great skill. In terms of the background, i think blends in a bit to much with the young mans hair and for me forces me to keep on looking at that border, as in that is where my eye is drawn. I look down the image to the old man then to the golem then to the couple and it sticks there. I doubt your prepared to change the composition, but its just a thought.
