Is it just me or is every painter and artist out there starting to add chromatic aberration to their images?

I first noticed it about a year ago, but since then it's just grown more and more common to the point that it seems everyone is doing it.

FYI, if you don't know what I mean, chromatic aberration is the term used to describe colour fringing which occurs due to defects in camera lenses (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Chr…), with red/purple shifted one direction and green the other. People add this to their images by selecting the different colour channels and moving them slightly, to make it look like their work isn't a painting, but a poor quality photo of a painting!
